Description
Enamelled copper flower, based on a snowdrop, with a wooden base. The base has been stained dark oak colour. The flower and leaves have been enamelled with vitreous enamel – the flower is white.
I made this flower starting with cutting out the leaf and petals from sheet copper. Once they were cut, I enamelled them. The flower is in a slightly creamy white, called ivory and the leaf is green. I then attached the flower and leaf to a copper wire stem. Once the flower was attached I curved the stem and shaped the petals. I cut a wooden base for the flower, which I stained. The base means the flower is free standing.
The flower is about 17-19cm tall.
The inside of the flower and the back of the leaf may have some marks or uneven enamel from how they’re supported in the kiln during enamelling. There may also be some dark marks on the enamel that happen when I’m brazing the parts together.
