Description
Enamelled copper blue dolphin wall hanging or wall art. It is mounted in a wood-effect frame with watercolour background. I cut the dolphin shape out of sheet copper, then enamelled it in blue/turquoise transparent vitreous enamel. The dolphin looked a bit boring so I did an extra firing with an enamel mix. This gave mostly blue and white dots. I also painted the watercolour background, which helps the dolphin to stand out. The watercolour is a graduated light blue colour.
The frame is 25cm by 30cm and a pale oak colour. There is no glass in the frame because the dolphin is not completely flat (and doesn’t need glass protection). In the kiln, copper can sag a little on the stand, so my enamelled pieces are not flat. The sagging gives a slightly 3D effect which I like.
