Description
Red, heart shaped enamelled bowl. The heart is about 10cm tall and 10cm wide at the widest point. The edges don’t rise up much.
I made this bowl starting with 0.5mm thick copper sheet. I cut a heart shape out using a jewellers saw and shaped it into a shallow bowl. Once I’d got the shape, I enamelled it using vitreous enamel and a kiln. The main enamel colour is red, but on the last firing I added a sprinkle of white enamel. This gave the red heart shaped bowl lots of tiny white spots. The back of the bowl is enamelled in red and signed. Enamel is effectively a glass coating. It can crack if the bowl is dropped, but is reasonably tough. I don’t think I’d trust it in a dishwasher though.
