Description
Handmade copper flower, based on an orchid. The flower has been made by cutting two layers of petals and the leaves from sheet copper. The leaves and petals were then textured. The next step was to join the leaves and petals to a copper wire stem by brazing. The flower was then pickled clean and lacquered before adding a wooden base. The wooden base has been stained a dark oak colour.
Although the flower has been lacquered there is a chance that it can still go darker with time, especially in damp environments.
The flower is about 23cm tall and has 3 flowers, plus 2 leaves.
Brazing can leave marks such as silvery colour areas or uneven patches.
The photo against a grass background shows my latest orchid.
