Description

Handmade enamelled pale green leaf shaped bowl or tealight holder.  This leaf started from a real leaf I found when I was walking the dog.  I made the leaf into a template, but with rounded tips so it’s safer.  I used the template the cut the leaf from copper using a jewellers saw.  Once I had a leaf, I used a hammer to bend up the edges of the leaf.  With my kiln, I enamelled the leaf using a pale green enamel.  On the last firing I overfired the leaf (put it in the kiln for longer).  This gave a dark outer edge and dark dots.

The leaf is about 13cm wide, 11.5cm long and 3cm high.  It can be used as whatever you’d like – a decorative item, a bowl, a dish, a tea light holder, whatever.  If you use it as a tealight holder, it will hold standard sized tealights, but please note, the base isn’t perfectly flat so it could wobble a little.

The back of the bowl is enamelled in pale green too and shows marks from how it was held when it is in the kiln. The back has dark patches because the first layer of enamel was a black liquid enamel layer. Enamelling the back reduces how much the copper warps in the kiln. I’ve signed the back. One photo shows the back.

Every item I make is unique.  If you’d like a variation on this bowl or to know more please let me know.
